Dunham has a Solid Showing

Football Friday is here, and at 7:00 P.M. under the lights, the Port Allen Pelicans hosted the Dunham Tigers. Dunham is already in the playoffs and played to secure their seeding. While the Pelicans were playing their last game of the season, and for their seniors the last game of high school football for them. The emotions were high, and the players got a little chippy.
Dunham starts with ball
Dunham starts with the ball and put together a succinct 2-minute 30-second drive en route to a touchdown. The drive featured a nice rollout pass for 17 yards. A few plays later on 4th and five, a pass play gets broken down and the pass gets thrown across the field to a wide-open receiver who takes for a touchdown. Dunham takes an early 7-0 lead. The teams played great defense, especially the corners, both offenses attempted to get to the boundaries often and the corners were ready for it. Unlike the opening drive, the rest of the first half was very defensive, both teams only got a handful of first downs. Both teams tried switching quarterbacks to spark some offensive production. The teams traded punts and turnovers for the next eight drives.
In the second quarter with less than four minutes on the clock, Port Allen got the ball at their own 28-yard line. This drive exclusively featured big plays or plays that gained less than two yards. The Pelicans ran a pass play that broke down, the quarterback kept the ball and scrambled for a 26-yard touchdown. Port Allen also converted a 4th down, as well as draining the clock down to only 26 seconds. Unfortunately for them, they missed the extra point, so they trailed 7-6 going into the half.
After a three and out from Port Allen, Dunham took over at their own 30 with 10 minutes left in the third quarter. On third down, they had a 13 yard gain followed by a 20-yard quarterback run, setting them up at the Port Allen 35 yard line. Following an incomplete pass, a long run put Dunham on the four, the next play was an option keeper to score and got up 14-6 halfway into the third quarter. After a short Port Allen drive, Dunham takes over with two minutes in the quarter and the ball on their own 20. Dunham had plays gain, 14 yards, 12 yards, 14 yards, and 8 yards, Dunham was driving effectively and quickly. They get to the 10-yard line, and with back to back runs, they score to take a 21-6 lead with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Port Allen gained a sense of urgency, and their offense was putting together more effective drives, but they were not able to score. Dunham offensively worked the clock, not running anything risky, taking away time from Port Allen. Port Allen was able to get an interception with less than six minutes left in the game, but two plays later, they threw an interception of their own, which sealed the game for Dunham 21-6.
