Offensive Explosion in Zachary

On Friday November 1, 2019, the Zachary High School Broncos took on the Central High School Wildcats in a game that was an offensive slugfest.  With the cold weather finally upon us and the stadium filled, anyone could tell this game was going to be a good one.  The game started off with Central kicking off to Zachary.  A three and out to start the game and Central was going to get the ball right back.  It would come until four minutes left in the first quarter that the first points were put upon the score board.  With a 5-yard run Kelion Brown takes it in for the touchdown.  Zachary would take a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter that eventually end in a shootout of a game.  Early in the second quarter, Zachary adds to their lead with a 4-yard touchdown run by running back RJ Allen.  Later in the second, Central finally gets on the board with a 12-yard touchdown run that would cut Zachary’s lead to 13-7.  However, it would not take them long to respond with a score of their own.  Kelion Brown takes it in for a 1-yard score to put them back up by thirteen late in the second.  With a little over one-minute left before halftime, central gets another score from a long touchdown from quarterback Connor Cassels of 71-yards.  The score was looking like it was going to be 20-14 heading into overtime, but Kelion Brown and the Broncos were not going to let the clock run out on them before they get one more score of 13-yards from the legs of Brown again.  The score at halftime would be 27-14 and Kelion Brown already having himself a game with three rushing touchdowns.  On in the third quarter, Zachary extends the lead again with a third down touchdown pass from Kelion Brown to Kenson Tate for 49-yards.  The very next possession for the wildcats would be a four-minute drive that would lead to a touchdown from Connor Cassels.  This time however not from him passing but using his legs to take it in.  However, Kelion Brown does his thing again.  With the first play of the next drive he runs for a big gain and on the second play he throws his second touchdown of the quarter to Jayden Williams for 30-yards and puts the Broncos back up by 20.  The Broncos take a 41-21 lead heading into the four as it looks like Zachary will run away with the win.  The start of the fourth, started off hot with a touchdown pass from Connor Cassels for 37-yards to cut the lead and keep the Wildcats in the game.  Kelion Brown then on the next possession throws a screen pass to Chris Hilton who just out runs everyone and take it in for a 52-yard score.  Central would eventually score again from a 4-yard run from Cedric Horton, but it was not enough as late in the fourth, RJ Allen takes the handoff and breaks away for a 44-yard to make the score 55-35.  That would be the final score as Zachary wins the shootout in the cold.  The two teams played their hearts out, but the Broncos would come away with the win behind the six total touchdowns from quarterback Kelion Brown.
