DITR: Trace Carter

Our next Diamond in the Rough is Ocean Spring’s star linebacker Trace Carter. Trace has been on the varsity team for the last two years and will look to add on to his successes going into his senior season. Trace stands at 6’1 205 LBS. Trace currently has two Division 1 offers including one from Arkansas St and another from Liberty University. Trace has a max bench of 255 LBS, a max squat of 400 LBS, and a max power clean of 265 LBS. Carter plans on contributing on both sides of the ball next fall getting a few snaps at RB or WR to help as much as he can. Not only does he excel on the field, he excels in the classroom as well boasting a 3.9 GPA.

When did you start playing football?

“I started playing football when I was 3, and tackle when I was 6 years old.”

What is your favorite part about football?

“I love winning, I love having the chance to compete and to win the game.”

What is something you have learned playing football”

“I have learned discipline, how to become a better man and teammate.”

Do you play any other sports?

“During my earlier years of high school I played baseball and basketball.”

Who is your favorite college football team?

“I am a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.”

Who is your favorite NFL team?

“I like to cheer on the Pittsburg Steelers.”

What is your best skillset as a player?

“The fact that I am coachable and that I have a good work ethic.”

Do you have any players that you watch or like to emulate your game after?

“I personally like to watch Micah Parsons and also enjoy Ray Lewis.

How do you maintain a balance of schoolwork and football?

“For me it comes pretty easy, I go to school, go to practice, then do my schoolwork.”

Who is your biggest role model?

“It has to be my mom she has given me everything to get me where I am today.”

What has been your best football memory so far?

“Having the opportunity to play in the South State game last season. Even though we didn’t win it was still a great opportunity.”

How do you prepare for a game?

“All it really is for me is listening to music. That helps me lock in and block any of the outside stuff.”

What sets you apart from others?

“My mentality and my work ethic. I am always ready to work and ready to learn from those willing to teach me.”

What is being a good teammate to you?

“Being able to help my teammates understand what is right from what is wrong and working in uplifting my team.”
