Meet our next Diamond in the Rough, Ashton Lafleur, a cornerback out of Liberty Magnet High. Ashton exudes confidence on the field and his confidence is backed by his skills. His impressive coverage skills and speedy footwork should not go unnoticed. Not only is Ashton a leader for his own team, he was also selected as a top performer at one of our recent Gridiron Football Elite Camps. I recently got to speak to him, and you can read what he had to say below.
What got you into playing football?
“My dad played in high school and I also watched football and I could just see myself doing it.”
Who are your favorite players to watch?
” Derek Stingley and Jaycee Horn.”
What team do you root for?
” Saints.”
What do you think your biggest strength is?
” My confidence and coverage area.”
What are your goals going forward?
” To get an offer for college and then things like be named first team all district.”
What do you like to do outside of football?
” Go out with the guys and just have fun.”
What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
“Leading my teams defense .”
What would be your dream school to play for ?
” LSU of course or University of Houston.”
Do you have any pregame rituals?
“I normally pray, listen to music to get hype, and eat a good meal.”
What motivates you to keep playing?
“Knowing I have a chance to make it to college football and be one of the first out of my family to do so.”
What has the recruiting process been like for you so far?
“So far I’ve gotten a few camp and Jr. day invites.”
