How would you describe the season so far?

The season has gone pretty well. Of course, COVID has hindered a few things, but I’m just trying to make the most of my senior season. We’re undefeated right now heading into the playoffs next week. I’ve rushed for 678 yards, scored 15 TDs, and have 76 total tackles through 6 games.

Did you have any specific goals for this season? If so, how is that coming along?

Yes, my goal for this season is 2000 all purpose yards, 20+ TDs, and 100+ tackles. I’m on pace to reach these goals, but they mean nothing if we don’t reach the ultimate goal, winning a state championship.

How did you even get into football? Is there anything specific that motivated you to keep playing?

It’s crazy because my first year ever playing football was freshman year. I’ve been a baseball player all my life and our coaches happened to recruit me to come play football. I ended up liking it a lot, but I broke my ankle in two spots that year halfway through the season. After that, I didn’t plan on playing, but after a talk with God I decided that it was something I wanted to continue to do. The next year I came back with a bang, receiving All State, Defensive Player of the Year, and best LB in my district classification. Sophomore year is when I really fell in love with it.

What has football taught you about yourself or life?

It’s taught me that I’m mentally tough, I’m resilient, and I’m a winner. I’m always willing to do whatever it takes to improve because I know complacency isn’t the key to winning, improvement is. I’m a competitor and I carry that winning mentality into the game.

What’s your favorite thing about your position?

My favorite thing about my position is the ability to have a big impact on the game. On offense, other than the QB, the RB has the most impact on how efficient the offense can be. I love being able to contribute and make big plays to put my team in the best position. On the defensive side, I love ILB because they’re the leaders of the defense. Everything runs through us and flows through us and I like having that type of responsibility.

What would you say are your main strengths on the field?

My biggest strength is I’m a playmaker. I’ll find a way to make a play whether it’s on offense or defense. On the other hand, I’d describe myself as versatile. I can be used as a power back, a receiving back, or a speed back. I have a great acceleration after I find an open lane and my speed is something that may catch people off guard, but i’m not scared to lower the shoulder and run through you. I look for contact to finish runs off.

How would your coaches and teammates describe you?

They would describe me as a guy who leads by example. I’m not the type of leader to get in your face and yell, but I am the type to show you how things should be done. They’d say I’m soft-spoken, humble, and hardworking. I’ll always be the first guy there and last guy to leave.

What’s your favorite thing about playing football in Texas?

Competition. I’m a competitor so I love competing in a state known for football. It will only prepare me for the next level, where competition will be very high.

Three words to describe yourself?

God-fearing, Hardworking, Winner

What hobbies do you have outside of sports?

I love doing things that involve competing regardless of what it may be. I love spending time with family and friends, and don’t mind competing with them as well.

What would you say are some of your strengths?

I am hardworking and I love God. I recognize that through God all things are possible, and I appreciate him for every blessing he sends me. I am mentally tough, and I’m able to overcome situations most people my age can’t.

Are there any college or NFL athletes that you look up to or try to model your play style after?

I would compare my game to Ezekiel Elliot and J.K. Dobbins in the backfield. Two players who are physical runners, but will break loose for a big gain if you give them a small seam. On the defensive side, I’d compare my game to Jaylon Smith, a physical linebacker who can play from sideline to sideline.

What is one thing could you not go a day without?

God. He’s with me 24/7 and walks life with me. Nothing would be possible without him, and I am where I am because of him.
