Diamond in the Rough: Darrian Achane, Jennings High School

Darrian Achane is a 5’10 177lb Running Back from Jennings High School (Jennings, LA). Darrian is a talented athlete and your ideal balanced running back who possesses both speed and power. He is a playmaker who brings blazing speed to the field every time he steps in between the lines and is a threat to score on any given play. Achane possesses tremendous hands, having the ability to be dangerous in the passing game out of the backfield as well. He has great vision running down the field, being able to make defenders miss consistently. Achane is a strong back who can protect the QB as well with his good blocking technique. Darrian is ready for a strong performance during the 2018 season.

When did you start playing football?

I started playing in third grade. It was a flag football league in downtown Jennings.

What is it that makes you love the game?

I love everything about the game, I always have. I love the excitement and intensity that comes with football. There is nothing that beats it.

Who do you model your gameplay after?

I would have to say Derrius Guice because I feel we have similar running styles and run with the same mentality.

What are you most motivated by?

The fact that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I want to get to the NFL so every time I step onto the field I give it my all.

What area of your game would you like to improve on this off season?

Being more of a leader to my teammates first of all and also my footwork. I have been working on my footwork all summer long just trying to get quicker.

Tulane, McNeese, and ULM

What would college coaches be most impressed with about you?

My field vision, speed, power, and my ability to catch the ball out of the back field.

What are your expectations for next season?

Be the best I can be for my team and go all the way and win state.

What do you want to study in college?

I want to major in business because I have always wanted to own my own business since I was a kid.

What would you say are your biggest accomplishments?

Getting my offer from Southeastern because that was a dream come true.

What have you learned about yourself while playing football?

I have learned to be a better man and how I can always strive to be a better person on and off the field.

Who do you look up to and why?

I look up to my dad because he is the one that taught me that you will never be handed anything in life, you have to work for everything you get. So I have always looked up to him.

What are your biggest strengths as a football player?

Encouraging my team and keeping my teammates motivated is my biggest strength. I’m one of the leaders on the team so I have to lead by example.

What would your coach say about you?

He would say that I’m a great role model, a great kid, and a great player.
