Diamond in The Rough: Casey St. John

Casey St. John is a class of 2022 QB for Boone high school in Orlando,Fl. He measures in at 6’2 and weighs 190. Casey has a 28inch vert, benches 195, and squats 350. His junior year he threw for 1868 yards, had a 63% completion rate, and broke the school record with 22 passing touchdowns. Casey does a great job of finding the open receiver and delivering an accurate ball.

How long have you been playing football? I have been playing football for 8 years. I started playing when i was 9.

How would your coaches and teammates describe you? They would describe me as a leader who leads by example and a competitive person who always wants to win.

What is something colleges should know about you? Colleges should know that I am ready to work and compete at any school that wants to take a chance on me.

What kind of passes do you enjoy throwing the most ? I enjoy throwing fades the most because I usually like my 1 on 1 match ups.

What goes through your mind pre-snap? Before every snap i look at the safety’s and identify 1 high or 2 high then i look at the corners depth leverage and eyes to identify coverage, then i check the overhang players.

How do you handle pressure? I handle pressure well, my coaches always say i keep the same composure no matter the situation. It was shown off my sophomore year when I led a 80 yard game tying drive with 1 minute in the clock.

What would you bring to the table for a college team? I bring leadership to a college team. I also bring my competitive nature and make sure I will do everything I can to help my teammates get better and make sure we win games

What is your GPA? 4.7

What is the most rewarding part about playing QB? The most rewarding part of being a QB is that i get to help all my teammates succeed like my wide receivers 

What is your favorite part about playing QB? My favorite part of being a quarterback is that all the attention is on me.

How do you gain trust and control of the offense? I gain trust by making the right reads and not making turn overs. I have gained trust from my coaches and teammates over the last 2 years.

Is there a player that you can compare your play style to? I compare my play style to andrew luck

What are you doing to get better? I do a lot of footwork drills and I like to get throws in with my receivers every day .
