North Iberville High School LB Mekell Toussaint has committed to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, a thumper in the middle of the field.
Mekell Toussaint is a two-way star, one of the few in the state to have both 1000 yards rushing and 100 tackles on defense. He’s a great running back too, but this is about his defensive abilities.
Toussaint is the enforcer of the linebacking group – this guy brings the hammer. He doesn’t just tackle people, he punishes them for even thinking about gaining yards on his defense. Standing at 5’10” 210 lbs, he’s densely built and ready to bring the pain to his enemies. He is a fantastic tackler, but he’s got the rest of the linebacking skillset down too. He knows how to pursue the ballcarrier and is fast and athletic enough to close in on the ball carrier, and his play recognition skills are impressive as well.
All of this led to a season that North Iberville won’t forget for a long time. It was their first season back at varsity football. They had great success, winning a playoff game in that first year, and Mekell was a huge part of that. He had those 1000 rushing yards with 13 TDs, and 100 tackles, 17 TFLsd, and 3 sacks on the season. He was the single best player in his entire district, the unanimous defensive MVP. Somehow, this guy doesn’t have any offers yet, so he’s looking to change that this weekend.
This allows me to have another chance to show off what I have again so that college coaches can take notice.
