BREAKING NEWS: Heights High School (Houston, TX) K/P Shawn Haenicke-Prevost Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

We have our first special teams player that has committed to the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game in Heights High School (Houston, TX) punter Shawn Haenicke-Prevost. The Texas native has a straight cannon for a leg as he’s been a major special teams weapon in flipping the field for the Bulldogs. This past season, he averaged over 40 yards per punt in earning 1st Team All-District honors at punter, but he also makes a big impact as a kicker converting on 98% of his extra points while also making 1st Team All-District there as well. To show how valuable he was for his team, he was named Player of the Game 14 times. This talented punter has very high upside as he has only been playing football since he was a freshman in high school. He has watched other talented NFL punters to help model his game.

“The NFL players I model myself after is Marquette King and Deestroying because they are African-American kickers. They make punting look fun with their style. I think that because of them, punting became looked upon as a more important part of the defense than before.”

The 6’2, 183 pound kicker/punter is what colleges want in a college kicking specialist. Prevost also went to the very prestigious Chris Sailer kicking camp where he was ranked as a 4.5 star kicker/punter. As an Academic All-State selection with a 4.6 GPA, there has been no wonder why many colleges have shown interest as Wright State, Waldorf University, Carleton College, East Texas Baptist University, and McMurry State have offered Prevost. He has also been contacted by Columbia University, Bryant University, Southwestern University, Trinity University, Wabash University, Macalester College, Dartmouth, St. Olaf College, and Rose Hulman College.
