Meet Coby Lewis, a talented junior high football player that possesses a strong love for the game. Coby, who is 5’9″ and weighs 158 pounds, is a focused individual with a strong drive.  Coby has been playing football since he was three years old. Over the years, he has developed his talents and become a star player who can handle pressure and execute well in a competitive setting. Coby’s unwavering work ethic guarantees that his adventure is just getting started as he gets ready to showcase his skills at the high school level.

How did you get started in football, and what inspired you to play the sport?

I got started playing football at age 3 because of my stepdad. He kept putting the ball in my hand and I been learning and getting better ever since.

Can you share a memorable moment or game that stands out in your football career so far?

At the homecoming game, I had 10 tackles and a force fumble.

What positions do you enjoy playing the most, and why?

I enjoy playing DE because I like to play defense.

How do you balance schoolwork and football during the season?

It is hard to balance school work and football but I remember that academics come first.

What aspects of your game do you feel you have improved upon the most since you started playing?

My feet work because it helps me beat the other players off the line.

What are your individual goals for the upcoming football season?

My goals for 8th grade football season is to be the best player on the field and dominate the field.

Are there any professional football players you look up to, and if so, why? 

Ray Lewis because of the way he played and led his team to be one of the best defense that ever played.

How do you stay motivated during practices and training sessions, especially when facing tough drills or exercises?

I always keep in the back of my mind that throughout all this hard work and training it’s going to payoff on game day.

What advice would you give to other young players? 

I would tell them to keep trying and never give up. Do not let anyone tell you that you can’t make it because we can do all things through Jesus Christ.

Aside from football, what is an interesting fact about you? 

I like to ride horses and rope goat.

Which college would you most like to play for? 

My dream school is LSU.

What did it mean to be a part of the Gridiron football camp? 

It was a great experience and great coaches there. Also, I got to meet some great players.

What are your biggest strengths on the field? 

My biggest strength on the field is the ability to get in the back field and stop the plays.

What is the biggest challenge you face on the field? 

My biggest challenge of the field is hiking the ball and blocking at same time.

How has playing football impacted other areas of your life, such as academics and personal?

Playing football helped me in many different ways. Playing football keeps me out of trouble and keeps me motivated to overcome anything.
