2026 Gridiron Football Elite Camp Series: May Recap!

This month, Gridiron Football put on its sixth camp of the 2026 offseason. After postponing our last camp at Albany High School because of bad weather, the camp was moved to Elite Training Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the same reason this past weekend. With over 50 players in attendance, this past weekend’s camp was one of the most talented of the offseason. There were plenty of players that were previously invited to the 2026 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game plus more invites in front of college coaches. Here is a brief recap of the top numbers and performances from our second Baton Rouge area camp! If you want to read about our camps in February, March, and April, click below!

Elite Training Academy Camp:

As mentioned above, over 50 players were in attendance for this past weekend’s camp as it was moved from Albany High School to Elite Training Academy because of bad weather in the area. These players came to the camp not only for the opportunity to get on Gridiron Football’s radar or to receive an offer to play in the All-American Bowl Game, but also to perform in front of college coaches. Louisiana Christian University offensive coordinator Cory York and Salt Lake Yeti recruiting director Broderick Fowler were in attendance to not only recruit, but to help coach up these young men.

As always, Gridiron Football CEO Andy Bryson started the camp off by giving advice to the campers about what it takes to play college football and what college coaches are looking for in recruiting. After that, the players are broken up into three stations to get their measurables in the 40, shuttle, and broad jump. All three are athletic tests that are used in the NFL for teams’ draft evaluation process.

It was a quick group as three players ran in the 4.4’s including U-High 2027 RB Corbin Odell (4.40), Ponchatoula 2027 WR Darius Williams (4.43), and Amite 2030 WR De’Andre Moore (4.48). Seven players were able to be in the 4.2’s led by Sulphur 2027 LB Wesley Bushnell (4.19). North Iberville 2029 WR/DB Clarence Walls (4.22), St. John 2027 WR/DB Ahmad Wilson (4.23), Plaquemine 2027 RB Spencer Collins (4.25), Northshore Vultures 2027 DE Roddy Hebert (4.25), Corbin Odell (4.25), and Livonia 2027 WR CJ Aguillard (4.28) all were able to run hit the time too. North Iberville 2027 WR/DB Brajon Melancon becomes the second player this offseason to hit a 10 foot broad jump joining Grant 2027 RB Aymaud Sykes. 11 players were able to jump over nine feet including Corbin Odell (9’10), CJ Aguillard (9’10), Spencer Collins (9’7), Ahmad Wilson (9’5 1/2), Mandeville 2028 DB Dominick Avery (9’5 1/2), Teurlings Catholic 2027 QB DJ Kelly (9’4), Mandeville 2028 S Gavin Boudlauch (9’3), Clarence Walls (9’2), East Ascension 2027 WR Jayden Ursin (9’1 3/4), and Ascension Christian 2027 QB Leron McDowell (9’1).

After getting their measurements, players broke into their position groups to refine their craft for 15-20 minutes. The final portion of the camp was competition. Wide receivers went against defensive backs with quarterbacks throwing them the football while offensive linemen went up against defensive linemen.

A lot of names stood out from the competition including Livonia WR CJ Aguillard. His quickness and top end speed made him get open time and time again as he not only broke away from defenders but showed reliable hands as well. Amite 2028 RB Ja’Myron Dillon made a beautiful catch on a deep ball thrown by Franklinton 2027 QB Kerston Diddon as one of the top plays of the camp. East Ascension WR Jayden Ursin showed great concentration on making a bobbling catch over a defender while North Iberville 2WR Brajon Melancon made an adjustment on catching the football towards the knees. Ponchatoula WR Darius Williams, St. John 2027 WR Daniel Breaud, and Ponchatoula 2027 WR Taj Short all were consistent making plays during 1v1s. The running backs were just as impressive with their hands and route running as Ja’Myron Dillon, Spencer Collins Jr., and CHEF 2027 RB Keimon Hardieway continued to make plays. Quarterback play was strong as well. DJ Kelly, Kerston Diddon, Leron McDowell, Grant 2028 QB Gage Hossieni, John F. Kennedy 2029 QB Asher Preatto, and Albany 2027 QB Jake Milton made up a strong quarterback group that took in former LSU quarterback Marcus Randall’s coaching and threw very catchable balls for their receivers. There were some defensive plays made too throughout the 1v1s as Covington 2027 DB Cedric Bates Jr. and Ahmad Wilson both had interceptions during 1v1 competition.

The action was just as intense with the linemen. Albany 2029 OL Michael Vilardo, Catholic 2028 OL Hunter Jarreau, Madison Prep 2027 DE Rocco Duhon, Fontainebleau 2027 DT Kenneth Primus, Roddy Hebert, Albany 2027 DT Tommy Windhom, Covington 2027 OL Alex Hughes, and East Ascension 2027 OL Ledaveon Curry were some of the names that stood out because of their technique, use of their hands, and overall, just their effort. The camp ended with the always popular tire pull, which was even more competition for the players while also entertaining for the parents and family members that watched the camp.

At the end of the camp, players were recognized by the coaches for being either top performers or being invited to the 2026 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. The top performers of the camp are any underclassmen that stood out to the coaches. 2027 prospects wore white camp shirts while underclassmen wore red shirts.

Amite 2028 QB/RB Ja’Myron Dillon, Catholic High School 2028 OL Hunter Jarreau, North Iberville 2029 WR/DB Clarence Walls, Mandeville 2028 S Gavin Boudlauch, and John F. Kennedy 2029 QB Asher Preatto were named Top Camp Performers from the coaches at the camp. All five players have great promise and are names to follow in the future.

Meanwhile, 11 players received invitations to play in the 2026 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game. Those players were also selected by the coaches for their performances. Sulphur LB Wesley Bushnell, Livonia WR CJ Aguillard, Covington DB Cedric Bates Jr., Ponchatoula WR Taj Short, Franklinton QB Kerston Diddon, Ascension Christian QB Leron McDowell, Teurlings Catholic QB DJ Kelly, St. John WR/DB Ahmad Wilson, Northshore Vultures DE Roddy Hebert, Plaquemine RB Spencer Collins Jr., and CHEF RB Keimon Hardieway join eight other players that were already invited to play in the bowl game at the Albany postponed camp. With half of the players at the camp being 2027 prospects and the talent there, it is most likely that other players from this camp get offered to play in the game as well.

Speaking of getting offered, numerous players received offers from either Louisiana Christian University or Salt Lake Yeti at the camp to put a close to the last camp we are putting on in South Louisiana this camp season. If you are a player that is trying to get on Gridiron Football’s radar or get an invite to play in this year’s All-American Bowl Game, we will have two more camps this offseason to get noticed at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida on Saturday, June 13th and at Louisiana Christian University on Friday, June 26th. You can sign up for either camp at the link below.

Special thanks to coaches like Marcus Randall, Cory York, Broderick Fowler, Ross Akpan, Eric Holden, and Don Kelley as well as volunteers like Cameron Cerniglia, Kathryn Prejean, and Kayden Farley for their help with the camp.
