I had the amazing opportunity to interview Jace. See his answers down below!

Is football the only sport you play?

“Yes, ma’am. I used to run track, but now I just do football.”

What is your favorite sport?

“Either football or boxing, I always watch those.”

What is your dream team to play on?

“Definitely Alabama.”

Who is your favorite player?

“Malachi Moore, the compassion he played with at Alabama really stood out to me. He was a playmaker.”

What is the most non-athletic task you are secretly good at?

Rubik’s Cube solving, I can solve a 2×2 in under 30 seconds and a regular one in under a minute.”

What is your favorite post-game meal?

“Fresh Cane’s and a Snapple.”

If you could no longer play football, what would you do?

“Go get my degree in chemistry and agriculture. I want to be able to build a community garden and teach others how to help out the community. The end goal is to help everyone save money and lend a hand. I would work out on the side and get more into boxing.”

What is your favorite sports memory?

“Back in little league, we won a ‘super bowl’.”

Was there a team you always looked forward to playing?

“Central. Growing up, it was my rivalry, so playing them in high school under the Friday night lights had a lot more meaning to it.”

Are there any specific tactics or skills you are looking to improve?

“Speed, technique, strength, and field IQ. I always try to study previous games to expand my knowledge.”

What are your biggest strengths?

“I’m dedicated, hardworking, smart, and I never give up on what I want to achieve.”

What are your weaknesses?

I feel like sometimes I can get discouraged, but it doesn’t stay like that for long. I will talk to God and remember scriptures to keep me going.”

Do you have a favorite scripture?

“Philippians 4:13.”

“I can do all things through Christ, which strengthen me.”

If you could be described in one word, what would it be?

“Resilient.”

Do you have a role model?

“It’s not necessarily a single role model. My family is what pushes me to keep going and do the things I do.”

Why are you passionate about football?

“Football has always been in my life, growing up football was a way of escape and letting out my aggression. Ever since then, the love for the game kept increasing, and so did my want to keep playing at the next level.”

What do you want to be remembered for?

“I want to be remembered for being the first person in my family to get everybody in a comfortable living situation and inspiring others to make things happen. Even though it might be difficult, you just have to trust the process.”

What lessons did you learn from playing in the bowl game?

“I learned discipline, because we couldn’t really blitz, so I had to focus on when I had to shed a block or run down into the box. It also taught me to be more social by being on a team with people from across the state, and to make meaningful relationships.”
