The Madison prep Chargers fell to the U-High Cubs by a final score of 37-29. Madison started the game off in great fashion with Quarterback Zeon Chriss running it in for a touchdown to give them a 6-0 lead. The Cubs followed up with a touchdown run by Derrick Graham Jr. to take a 7-0 lead. From there, most of the momentum belonged to the Cubs as they dominated on both sides of the ball. After 4 touchdowns and safety, Madison prep found themselves in a big hole. The Chargers somehow started to turn things around as Quarterback Zeon Chriss was able to connect with Treylan James for a touchdown pass and a 2 point conversion attempt. After a forced punt, The Chargers were able to score once again and complete another 2 point conversion. A roughing the kicker call on fourth down eventually ended the Chargers momentum and sealed off a very entertaining game.
Game Standouts: Quarterback Zeon Chriss proved why he is one of the best QBs in the state. He was under duress most of the game but was able to create plays on the ground and in the air to give his team a chance, accounting for 4 touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 passing). ATH David Jones was very impactful in this game. Although limited due to cramping, he was able to haul in some tough catches on offense and make multiple plays on defense. Defensive end Quency Wiggins caused havoc for the Cubs offense with his ability to be physical at the line of scrimmage.
