The Parkview Baptist Eagles beats the Dunham Tigers 39-32 to advance to the Quarterfinals.

In this second-round playoff matchup between the Parkview Baptist Eagles traveling to take on the Dunham Tigers. It was a hard-fought match between these two teams with the winner being able to move on to the quarterfinals of the LHSAA football playoffs. The Eagles are coming into this game hot after winning big in the first round by beating Jefferson RISE Charter High School, while the Tigers are coming into this game rested with their first-round bye week. These two teams faced off earlier this season and it was a high-flying game with both teams scoring 40+ points. The Eagles were able to win this game 52-46 and were looking to repeat the outcome of what happened earlier this year while the Tigers were looking to defend their home field and move on and put an end to the Eagles season.

The Dunham Tigers came out this game with good defensive stop by forcing the Eagles to put on their first offensive drive. The punt return team for the Tigers was able to return the punt for a touchdown but was unfortunately called back by a blocking in the back call. Luckily the Tigers were able to capitalize off their defensive stop by scoring a touchdown. The Eagles offense looked to answer the Tigers touchdown with a score off their own but ultimately the drive stalled out giving them the ball back. The Tigers were able to score another touchdown putting the Eagles into an early 12-0 hole. The Eagles offense was able to answer with a score of their own with their QB breaking out of a potential sack and throwing it to a wide-open receiver for a touchdown.

The Eagles offense was able to gain some momentum going into the second quarter by getting on the board and shortening the Tigers lead. The Eagles had the ball coming into the second quarter, but their drive stalled out forcing them to punt. During the punt the Eagles were able to catch a break by a crucial roughing the kicker called by the Tiger special teams. The Roughing the kicker call gave the Eagles the ball back and giving them life with a new set of downs. The Eagles were able to score off the Roughing the Kicker call with a touchdown. The Tigers were looking for a score after watching their 12-0 lead vanish. The Tigers looked to keep their drive alive by going for it on fourth down but unfortunately it did not work out in their favor, and it ended up giving the Eagles good field position. The Eagles were able to capitalize off the good field position with a touchdown to increase their lead. Getting the ball back following the Eagle’s touchdown, the Tigers offense was looking for some life and hoping to gain some momentum. The Tigers offense was able to make something happen from a great catch by their receiver that allowed them to gain a big chunk of yards. This led to the Tigers driving down the field and scoring a touchdown to cut into that Eagles lead. Getting the ball back the Eagles plans on getting points going into halftime. The Eagles offense was faced with a fourth and one and instead of just getting the one yard to move the chains, they went for it all and ended scoring a touchdown. This allowed the Eagles to gain momentum and increase their lead to 10 going into the half.

The Eagles got the ball coming out of half and looked to increase their lead and they did exactly that. The Eagles offense came out firing and executing the same way they did in the first half. Their opening drive they drove down the field and had hopes of scoring a touchdown but ended up having to settle for a field goal. The Tigers got the ball back for the first time in the second half looking at a 13-point deficit. The Tigers were able to answer and come back with a score of their own to cut into that Eagles lead. With the Tigers touchdown they were looking at a 6-point defect going into the fourth quarter.

The Tigers were looking to play off their momentum that they gained going into the fourth quarter. The Tigers were able to get the ball back after an Eagles drive stalled out forcing them to punt. The Tigers took that opportunity and were able to put together a great drive and score a touchdown to retake the lead. This was their first time leading since taking an early 12-0 lead in the first quarter. The Tigers had all the momentum on their side giving the ball back to the Eagles hoping for a defensive stop. The Eagles were able to silence the away crowd by putting together a great drive that led to an Eagle touchdown and a successful 2-point conversion to increase their lead to 7. The Tigers got the ball back hoping to answer with some points of their own, but their drive came to an end by the Eagles defense forcing them to punt and hope their defense can create a turnover or get a stop. The Eagles got the ball looking to put the game away, but the Tigers defense was able to stop them and get the ball back but with limited time left on the clock. The Tigers were hoping for a miracle on the last play but it ultimately short. It was a hard-fought game by both teams but ultimately the Eagles were able to escape and leave Dunham victorious. The Eagles now advance to the quarterfinals where they face the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers.
