St. Thomas More Continues Undefeated Season After Decisive 35-3 Victory Over Denham Springs

The St. Thomas More Cougars continue to click on all cylinders after a thrilling 35-28 win last week against Catholic High School, but there was certainly no letdown for the Cougars this past Friday against the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets. Playing against a talented secondary for the Yellow Jackets featuring LSU commit Da’Shawn McBryde and Maison Vorise, the Cougars’ high-flying aerial assault was efficient.

St. Thomas More QB Sam Altmann finished the game completing 12 of 15 passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns. Altmann found his favorite target Landon Strother twice during the outing and was able to also find Sanders Foreman for an 18 yard touchdowns score.

The Cougars also relied on the running game as well with two more rushing touchdowns on the ground to secure the victory. There is no surprise about how well the Cougars’ offense played, but their defense was the story only holding the Yellow Jackets to one field goal throughout the entire game.

There were opportunities for the Yellow Jackets as McBryde came down with some big catches, but penalties and miscues cost the team in the end from hanging around with the Cougars.

Led by Hall of Fame head coach Jim Hightower, the Cougars’ undefeated season continues at 5-0 as they will begin district play against North Vermilion this week.

As for Brett Beard and the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets, they will fall to 3-2 overall and will look to start district play off strong against Live Oak on a short week.
