Scottlandville Football 2020 Preview

In my travels this week, I stopped in to see my friends at Scottlandville Magnet High School. I first met the head coach, Lester Ricard Jr., a few years back when he was the head coach at Walker high school. Coach Ricard is highly regarded as a coach and brings a lot of experience as both an elite player and coach to the Hornets. I was also able to see my friend coach Washington, Scottlandville’s Defensive Back coach.

Last season was head coach Lester Ricard Jr. first season with the Scottlandville Hornets. The Hornets went 8-4 in their 2019 campaign making the second round of the playoffs. Coach Ricard has plenty of talent to build around. Earlier this month, I rated Scottlandville as the #13 ranked team in the 2020 preseason due to the amount of talent on the team. I also know the type of coach coach Ricard is and the high powered offense he likes to put together. Make sure you check out Scottlandvile this upcoming season.

I employ you to check out the players that the Scottlandville Hornets have. Here are just a few of the guys on this years squad. Sr FS Jah’von Grigsby, Jr RB Chance “ Deuce “ Williams, Sr OLB Braelon Hobson, So QB Czavian Teasett (one of the top QBs in his class), Sr SS Deitron Parker, Sr TE Covadis Knighten, Sr WR Reggie King, Sr DE Bryce Cage, So G Hamza Rahman, and Jr T malcom ricard.

On a side note:

This season we have more questions than answers. I feel that there will be football played this school year, either this fall or in spring. Either way, we will have an opportunity to let these kids play. Safety is always everyone’s number one goal, so keep calm and be ready. As a christian man, I have been prying for healing of this great state. I feel that as a state, we can overcome everything, including this virus. We have dealt with hurricanes, floods, poverty, and we are a melting pot of all races and cultures. If we come together as one state, put our petty differences aside and pray, we can get through this together. I am reminded of a scripture I read daily while I was in Afghanistan and Iraq; Joshua 1:9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (KJV) For those of you that may not believe, then have faith in your fellow Louisiana’ians, that we all can get thru these times together. We should offer help to those of us in need and not insult one another. So lets lift each other up and be ready to get back to normal as soon as we beat this virus.
