School Spotlight: Allen High School (Allen, TX)

Allen High School is a public 6A classification by the University Interscholastic League. The school is located in the DFW metroplex in a suburb north of Dallas called Allen, Texas. Allen is the largest high school in the state of Texas with the enrollment of over 5,000 students. A very prestigious program that contends for a state championship every year. The Eagles have won 5 state titles the past 15 years, including 3 straight titles (2012-2014). The team expectations at Allen are straightforward, it’s to compete for a state title. The Eagles are in the current stage of finding the new team leaders and what the team will look like going into the fall. The team wants to continue to get better at the little things and learning how to “compete the way we want to compete”- Coach Wiginton. Allen plays in one of the hardest districts in the state with teams like Prosper, Denton Guyer, McKinney, and others. They are very excited to jump into district play in hopes of bringing another district title for the program. Once playoff time comes, it is a one week mentally with the ultimate goal to bring another state championship.

Coach Lee Wiginton made multiple coaching stops around the state of Texas before making the coaching change last year from Midlothian Heritage to the powerhouse Allen job. Coach Wiginton is very proud of his staff and what they are doing. “I don’t want to leave anyone out, our coaching staff is one of the best around the state.” The staff does things for the athletes to better them both on and off the football field. At Allen, you are focused on being the best student, man, and the best football player you can become. The staff is very “relationship driven”- Coach Wiginton. The coaches love what they do on a day to day basis outside of the X’s and O’s.

Here are some of the Allen Eagles that are heading to the next level.

Steven Gorski-6’3 230 TE Louisiana Monroe Commitment. Gorski was a very good pass and run blocker for his team. The tight end was great at getting down the field blocking for his teammates.

Timothy Brantley Jr.-6’0 305 DT Missouri State Commitment. Great strength off the line with a great spin move. Brantley is your dream run stopper that can also get to the quarterback.

Brock Winsett-6’4 225 DE Colgate Commitment. Winsett has a great mixture of speed, hands, and technique that makes him a fun defensive end to watch. Offenses better know where #46 is lined up at all times.

Kasen Carpenter-6’4 275 OL Tulsa Commitment. Carpenter is a big built lineman that can play multiple positions on the offensive line. The lineman has a great mixture of run and pass blocking skills.

Jake Morgan-6’3 180 K Tulane Commitment. Morgan, a lefty kicker, has a powerful leg with his longest field goal of the year being 46 yards.

Taylor Collins-5’11 175 S Arkansas-Monticello Commitment. Collins is a very fast and athletic safety that flies to the football. The safety also was a big piece in the return game and offensive side of the ball for the Eagles.
