Last season, Lutcher High School had a great campaign in clinching an undefeated regular season and a district championship. As one of the leaders in the offense, Trenton Chaney rushed his way to over 3,000 yards of offense and 26 touchdowns during his career. That has led him to signing with the UL Ragin’ Cajuns.
Now, the question is who will be replacing Chaney’s carries in the backfield for the Bulldogs, and it looks like the future is bright with Jaimylon Joseph getting the rock.
“My strength to my game is that I just play hard, run hard, and do whatever it takes to win.”

Playing in varsity action this past season as a sophomore, Joseph got the opportunity to learn behind Chaney and even got some carries. Although he only had 52 carries last season, Joseph took advantage of those opportunities by averaging over 9 yards per carry. He finished with 495 yards and three total touchdowns.
After an impressive debut his sophomore year, Joseph is looking forward to showing what he can do his junior campaign.
“I want to win the state championship and get 1,000 yards rushing this year.”

For this upcoming season, Joseph is looking to add some more moves to his repertoire and he is doing that by participating in another sport.
“I run track and it really helps me to stay in shape and get faster.”

Running the 4×1 and the 4×2, Joseph has some really good athletic genes in his family. His uncle Reggie Dunn played college football for Utah where he set NCAA records for kickoff returns for touchdowns in a season (four), 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in a career (five), and 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in a game (two).

His other uncle Kyron King also played college football for South Alabama and Nicholls State. Still, it was his father Juan Joseph that really guided him to start playing the game of football.
“I would like to thank my dad because he taught me how to play football when I was four years old and that’s when I started to play football.”

Along with his family, he also models his game after the NFL’s leading rusher and a Super Bowl champion.

“I would have to say Saquon Barkley because he reminds me of me. He is very explosive, hard to tackle, and he is also very fast, but strong.”

After being a part of winning youth teams with the Gramercy Tigers in which his dad helped coach to three Super Bowls, Joseph knows the high expectations to play in the River Parish, especially for a championship staple program like Lutcher.
“It’s very fun and it feels good to play for a winning program like Lutcher that has nine state championships in football.”

As a rising junior with a 2.8 GPA, Jaimylon Joseph not only wants to add to Lutcher’s trophy case, but like so many others before him, wants to set the tone for what kind of player he is going to be for the Bulldogs.
“On the field, I’m a hard strong runner and off the field, I’m smart and always willing to put the work in.”
