The Plaquemine Green Devils had a dominant round 2 showing in tonights matchup against Northwest High. With their 49-34 victory over the Raiders, the Green Devils now move on to round three.
In tonight’s round two matchup, the Green Devils were able to dominate the game through all four quarters. On the offense’s second play of the game, the Green Devils were able to score with a TD from John Walker to go up 7-0 early. After a quick possession from Northwest, Plaquemine got the ball back and score again. This time, from Tyrese Mosby, who had 4 TDs on the night.
After going up 13-0, the Raiders began their initial fight back into the game with a TD from Markez Davis. This TD brought the score to within 6. This wasn’t enough though, as the Green Devils went down and scored again.
The TD to put Plaquemine up 21-7 was from Tyrese Mosby, as he was a problem all night. The Green Devils tend to match their opponents TDs almost immediately after, and in very quick fashion. This is a good way for them to halt any potential momentum their opponent may be gaining. Tonight was no different. They were also able to go into halftime with a comfortable lead from a walk-off TD from John Walker again, putting them up 28-7 at half.
Coming out of hand, the Green Devils were able to widen their lead. This was started with a TD from Markez Davis again. However, like previously stated, the Green Devils almost immediately met this TD with one of their own. This time, it was Tyrese Mosby, getting his 3rd. The Raiders turned the ball over, and Tyrese Mosby got the ball and scored again for his 4th TD. After this, the Raiders were able to go on a late run in the 4th to make the score look a little closer than the game was.
Some standouts for the Plaquemine Green Devils were RB, Tyrese Mosby, with 4 TDs, Safety, Roderick Bingham, who had 3 interceptions, and John Walker, who had 2 TDs. Some of the standouts for the Raiders were QB, Jayden Chavis, and WR Markez Davis.
After the game, I was able to talk to Coach Williams
“Just proud of the team, of the coaches, proud of the players. We went in there with a game plan and they executed”
Coach Williams when asked how he thought his team played
“I really just trying to prove our point, you know, we just played a seminal team and just wanted everybody know that we belong in the conversation too”
Coach Williams when asked what was the mentality coming into tonight’s game
“Just fixing our mistakes and getting better at what we did good.”
Coach Williams when asked what can we expect to see going into the 3rd round
After tonight’s win, the Plaquemine Green Devils move on to the 3rd round with a record of 11-1 as they look to play the Opelousas Tigers. This Round 3 Playoff outing will be next Friday, 11/29, at 7PM!
