Joe Burrow & Justin Jefferson Named NFL MVP Finalists

Today, it was announced that Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson were two of the finalists for NFL MVP. Both Burrow and Jefferson were two of the top players on LSU’s 2019 National Championship team, and now, they are both recognized as finalists for the NFL’s most coveted award.

The two LSU all-time greats join Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, and Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes as NFL MVP finalists.

After leading the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl last season, Burrow has risen to the higher echelon of quarterback play and is highly regarded as one of the most elite quarterbacks in the league. This season, Burrow is having his best statistical season in his young, but promising NFL pro career completing 68% of his passes for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns to only 12 interceptions. Just in his third season, the former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback is on the cusp of leading the Bengals to another Super Bowl appearance with the AFC championship being this weekend.

Jefferson was a matchup nightmare playing for the Minnesota Vikings leading the league in catches and receiving yards this season with 128 receptions for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 regular season games while averaging 106.4 yards per game. Also, entering his third year in the league, Jefferson has established himself as one of the top receivers in all of the NFL. With the other four nominees being quarterbacks, he looks to become the first wide receiver to ever win the MVP award.
