After a gruesome game against St. Michael, the Indians take on the 0-3 Tara Trojans, coming off the tough 7-0 loss, they wanted to come into this game with a big statement win, and it was not so much a statement win but a win is a win in the Indians book. The Indians did have a disadvantage coming into this game because they did not have star player Kyree Paul in uniform. Without Kyree Paul, Istrouma had two players step up, those two are Justin Williams, and Jeremiah Coleman. Tara did have a great performance from their quarterback using his arm and legs to create big plays.
To start the game, Istrouma decided to surprise the Trojans, on the opening kickoff with an onside kick, luckily for the Trojans they recovered it, and something that plagued the Indians last game were penalties and they were back, the Indian defense opening drive had two penalties that help Tara get close to pay dirt, but again Istrouma has a bend don’t break mentality on defense and they forced a turnover on downs, Tara did do a good job of controlling time of possession. Istrouma takes over on offense, and no Kyree Paul, no problem, in two plays the Indians were in the Trojans endzone, with a short gain on the first play, then bang 73 yard house call by Justin Williams.
After that touchdown, there was nothing else significant that happened in the first half beside a 68 yard touchdown called back after Istrouma held and Tara doing a great job of chewing and controlling the clock. Tara came ready to throw a punch at Istrouma in the second half, holding Istrouma to a turnover on downs, and scores a touchdown on a slip screen after a long and time consuming drive to tie the game up 8-8. Not until late in the third quarter did the Indians have any answer, to the Tara touchdown. The man that stepped up in the offensive side was Jeremiah Coleman that broke the tie with a 30 yard screen touchdown. Just like the whole game Tara was controlling the clock and luckily after a jump ball throw by Tara, and intercepted by Istrouma. With the momentum in Istrouma court, they responded at the back half of the fourth quarter with a time chewing drive that was topped off with the final blow with a 45 yard touchdown run from Jeremiah Coleman. Tara was attempting to have a chance to keep it close with a touchdown, and they were close with the help of their quarterbacks legs, and an amazing You Just Got Mossed catch to get them inside Istrouma 20 yard line but the Indian defense held strong and did not allow any life to happen, with the final score 22-8.
Post game Head Coach Sid Edwards awarded the game ball to Jeremiah Coleman, after his two touchdown performance and dominate performance on defense.
