History was made in New Orleans. Saints 43 Redskins 19

With a 62-yard touchdown laser to Tre’Quan Smith in the second quarter, Drew Brees made history by breaking the record for passing yards, topping both Brett Favre and the previous record holder Peyton Manning. He is also only one touchdown pass shy of  joining the 500 club.

Brees finished the game 26-of-29 for 363 yards and three touchdowns while avoiding any turnovers.

Once again Tysom Hill dazzled fans with his versatility, and this time actually passing to himself…….. The Saints scored a touchdown on their first four drives and led by 20 at halftime. In his return from a 4-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, Mark Ingram ran for 53 yards and two touchdowns. Washington quarterback Alex Smith threw for 275 yards and turned the ball over twice. The Redskins struggled on the ground, running for only 39 yards.

New Orleans stays in first place in the NFC South, while the Redskins also remain atop the  NFC East.

The Saints have a bye next week and then will travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens
