Deondrae Riden, or “Tiger”, as they call the speedy running back is a Class of 2025 player for DeSoto High School. A very physical runner when the ball is in his hands. With the combination of his skills in the open space with his home run speed helped him get into the end zone 18 times this past sophomore campaign. His Head Coach Claude Mathis told me, “He should be the best running back in the state of Texas in his class.” Riden has a bright future ahead of him. He currently holds offers from Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas, and others.

Here is Deondrae “Tiger” Riden’s interview with me.

I play football and run track for DeSoto.

What was it like to lead your team to the State Championship this year?

It felt good… It was a while since the last time Desoto won the state championship. It felt great to bring one back this year.

Saquon Barkley…I like the way he runs the football.

My ability to run downhill, whip power, speed, and the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

I would say being named the State Championship Offensive MVP.

What has Coach Mathis done to improve your football career?

He pushes me, tells me to compete every day, and helps me with some technique things.

What are your goals this upcoming season at DeSoto?

Win another state championship. I want to rush for 1500 yards and 20 touchdowns. I want to get more strong also.
