First Victory for The Southeastern Lions: 30-24

Southeastern traveled to Beaumont, Texas to compete against the Cardinals at Provost Umphrey Stadium, this weekend. With a 6 p.m kickoff. The Lions planned on bringing home coming home with their first win of the season and that they did. Despite the Lions not being able to pull through their first three games, they were able to come home with a victory this time around. Leaving the score 30-24 SLU.

Chason Virgil lead the game in passing yards with 285 yards, 2 TDs and 1 sack. Quarter back Lorenzo Nunez had 45 yards passing during this game tonight. Southeastern had a total of 26 1stdowns, a net total of 164 yards rushing and 330 yards passing. The team did well on both offense and defense tonight and that showed throughout the game. Offense showing up with 494 yards total. Devonte Willams lead southeastern in rushing yards, he had a net total of 62 yards. Followed by Marcus Cooper with 34 yards.  On the offensive side of the ball Brasen Schwebel and Juwan Petit-Frere both had around 83 to 98 yards receiving.

Lamar University top rushers tonight was A.J walker with 88 yards rushing and Darrel Colbert with 67 yards rushing. Darrel Colbert also had led with 15 carries for a total of 171 yards passing. The cardinals top receivers for the game include Kirkland Banks with 43 yards and 3 carries and Dorian Gaston with 40 yards and 4 carries.

Southeastern was able to score the first tounchdown of the game with the first 12 minuets of the game. Keeping that momentum going was very important for the Lions as they got further into the rest of the game. Although they had a few balls intercepted and some plays that were out of bounds the Lions pulled through and gave the Cardinals a great challenge. Southeastern will be playing Northwestern State at Home next Saturday with a 7 p.m kickoff. In hopes of creating a winning streak!
