DITR: WR Kejaylen Edwards, Port Gibson High School (Port Gibson, Mississippi)

Kejaylen Edwards has every trait a team looks for in a wide receiver.

The 5’10, 170 pound prospect is a member of the 2025 class. He has soft, strong hands that snare any ball flown his way. Edwards also has a large route tree, displaying sharp cuts and strong moves that throw defenders off his routes. On top of his ability as a receiver, he’s also a tremendous leader who is willing to help his team succeed however he can.

Edwards had a limited amount of targets last season, but made the most of the ones he had. He finished his junior season with nearly 400 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Those numbers are proof of production, and his film shows plenty of potential. He knows how to find the endzone and understands how to manipulate a defense to get open. His final season at Port Gibson should show a much more polished version of himself, with a large role in the schools offense.

The Port Gibson player is in store for a big senior campaign. His route running is sharp and quick; he’s able to throw defenders off his trail and leap over players to secure catches. It doesn’t matter if he only has one hand available, Edwards will still find a way to make the catch. He needs to improve on his fluidity when running, but he’s taking the appropriate steps to resolve the issue.

Edwards is a multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball, while also running track. His experience with track should help make him a more smooth runner, furthering his ability as a route runner. However, as it stands, Edwards is already a strong player, and proves it by playing with one of the best 7v7 groups in Mississippi. If that wasn’t enough, colleges have already begun to take notice of Edwards.

He already has two college offers, and will continue to earn them because of his outrageous athletic ability. As only a junior in high school, Edwards already has a 4.43 40-yard dash, a 10’4″ broad jump and a 34.5″ vertical. Combing his athletic measurements with his solid frame, Edwards could become a feared receiver- especially if he works from the slot.

His size, hands, route running and athletic ability make Edwards a strong addition to any receiver room. He had an underrated junior season, but looks to cash in with his senior season approaching. The 2025 prospect is a strong competitor who raises his team’s efficiency just being on the field. He is a skilled receiver who dominates at the catch point, is unfazed by contact and has unbelievable hands that make him almost unfair to guard. With the 2025 season approaching, every major institution will want to keep their eyes on Edwards.
