DITR: S Jacob Miranda, Pineville High School (Pineville, LA)

Equipped with a high football IQ, ability to physically attack downhill, and being a vocal leader, Pineville High School 2025 safety Jacob Miranda is a perfect defensive piece to build around for a football team. At 6’0, 190 pounds with 4.5/40 speed, Miranda has the physical attributes necessary to become a big-time defensive back at the next level.

“My biggest strengths to my game are my physicality and my ability to read offenses because of the mental time I take to study film.”

That time in the film room paid dividends for a breakout junior season for Miranda after making 1st Team All-CenLa and 2nd Team All-District with 59 tackles, one interception, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns.

It was a game against Winnfield that gave Miranda the total confidence that he was going to be in on a great season.

“The game that stood out to me the most this past season was the first game against Winnfield. It was my breakout game and I believe it was the game that showed a lot of people that I’m a baller.”

His success on the gridiron to go along with a 3.2 GPA and a 21 ACT score has also allowed him to have a good start in the recruiting process.

“The recruiting process has been good so far. I have an offer from LCU, Massachusetts Maritime, and a verbal offer from Grambling. I am getting looked at by Northwestern State and a couple of really nice D2 schools out of state.”

Studying on and off the field comes second nature for Miranda as his mother is a professor at Northwestern State so studying and modeling some of the top players at the safety position comes to no surprise.

“I would compare myself to Grand Delpit and Jamal Adams especially when Delpit was at LSU, he was the leader of the defense and really took command of his team. I believe I am a leader and I take control on the field. Jamal Adams is a very physical and big safety. He hits hard and doesn’t mind getting his nose dirty in the run game much like myself.”

Being physical has always been a big part of Miranda’s game and now, he is focused on working on his coverage skills.

“Coverage skills is the main thing. A lot of colleges are iffy about my ability to cover so this year, I look to really show off my ability in coverage.”

Miranda has shown how much he has approved in that area at our most recent camp at St. Edmund High School in Eunice, Louisiana. His top notch camp performance also earned him an invite to play in this year’s Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.

“I loved the camp. I had a lot of fun competing and got a lot more reps because it was a smaller camp. I was also very honored and excited to be invited to the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.”

That momentum from last season to this offseason hopefully continues to carry on for an even more impressive senior year.

“I’m going for All-State this year. I want to win a lot of games with my team and have a solid playoff run.”

In the meantime, Jacob Miranda does what he always does and that is getting ready for the season both physically and mentally not only to help his team, but also to continue to prove himself to college coaches.

“Colleges should recruit me because of my commitment and work ethic I put into the game. I’m the hardest worker in the room and that’s exactly what they will get out of me. Pure hardwork. One of the things I would like to add to this is my coachability. I take criticism really well and I take it as motivation to improve and I think that carries a lot of weight.”
