DITR: LB Trace Crane, Northlake Christian School (Covington, LA)

Trace Crane is a 5’9, 180lb. Linebacker from Northlake Christian in Covington, Louisiana and is in the Class of 2026. Trace is a very athletic player and averaged 150+ tackles, 20+ forced fumbles, and 30 sacks throughout his football career. Trace also got the chance to participate in the Gridiron Football Elite Camp where he had an amazing performance and was able to show off his speed, agility, and strength. I believe that Trace has a good chance at being able to have a bright future in football.

What are some things you have overcome in life?

Some things that I have overcome in life are having a good work ethic, wanting to get better all the time, and also being the best person I can be to other people.

What are your biggest accomplishments?

My biggest accomplishments are winning 2 out of the 3 compositions at the saints skill combine. Also being a better follower of God.

What player do you compare yourself to and why?

I compare myself to James Willis. He is my football coach and he was also a linebacker for the saints, I also compare myself to Jason Coffey, who played linebacker for the navy. I chose both of these players because they had an amazing work ethic and they showed me how to have one too.

What are your plans once you’re done with football and why?

I don’t want to be done with football but if it does come to that I want to own my own construction company. I chose this because it would be following my dad in the construction business.

What are your goals/new things you want to accomplish for this upcoming season?

My goals for this upcoming season is to help the younger kids rise up to be leaders in the program. And also win state and district. 

What do you like about the sport of football and how is it significant to you?

What I love about the sport of football is it makes you have to get better every single day. I feel like I become a better man by leading the defense every game. Just like leading a family. 

What is an interesting fact about you outside of football?

An interesting fact outside of football is I play the trumpet and I also play baseball.

What is your dream college to play for?

My dream college to play for is LSU.

How did it feel to participate in the camp and what was the most interesting thing about it?

It felt great to be involved with the camp. I saw a bunch of friends and also met some people I can really relate to.
