Meet Malakai Coon out of Acadiana Christian. Playing both offense and defense, Malakai shines on both sides of the ball. His ability to play on either side is a testament to his incredible athleticism and football IQ. Malakai doesn’t just contribute, he leads by example. Apart of the class of 2026, he is a key player on his team and hopes to win the state championship this year. With his determination and work ethic, anything is possible. We recently got the chance to chat with him and below you can read what he had to say.
What message are you and the other seniors telling your guys in the off-season?
” Be on that grind and make sure we’re working as hard as possible.”
What is your biggest strength as a football player?
” I lead by example a lot and my defensive IQ.”
Do you like offense or defense better?
” They’re both pretty even but I’d say I’m significantly better at defense.”
Do you have a go to pash rush move?
” Normally I just stick on the outside.”
What NFL player do you like to watch?
” Saquon Barkley”
What are your goals for the season?
“To beat Brent Henry in tackles, win the state championship, and grow in my faith. “
How do you feel about this teams chance for a championship this year?
” I feel like we have a good chance. Every time we’e went to the state championship we’ve gotten better and better. I feel like this is the year.”
How has the recruiting process been so far?
” I’ve gotten a couple colleges in mail. They’ve asked me to go to camps and check it out. That’s really about it right now.”
Why should college coaches recruit you ?
“I’m a hard worker. I lead by example a lot. I feel like nobody is going to work as hard as I do. “
