Diamond in the Rough: Kaleb Jammer

Kaleb Jammer is a key player who starts at both WR and CB as a junior for the Angleton Wildcats. With a frame of 5’10, 155 pounds, Kaleb Jammer looks to help play a part in leading the Wildcats to a state championship. Jammer suffered an ankle injury early in the season and has only been able to play 4 games up to this point, but has made a name for himself in every game he has played in, with one of his more noticeable performances being in a 38-0 win against Foster, where Jammer had 5 catches for 125 yards and a TD. Kaleb Jammer’s next game will be this Saturday(2/14), in a semifinals game against Smithson Valley, in Waco, TX at 2:30 PM!

When did you start playing football & what made you start playing?

“I started playing the game when I was about 6 years old and football kind of runs in the family, you know. My dad (Quentin Jammer) and uncle(Quandre Diggs) played all their life and made it to the next level and that really got me going and motivated to play the game really.”

What player, NFL or College did you model your game after?

“The player that I try to model my game after is Justin Jefferson, he has such a smooth game and l like the way he runs routes and creates separation for his quarterback to throw him the ball.”

What would your teammates say about you?

“My teammates would say I’m a great player, on and off the field, and in general, a great person to be around. They know me for talking trash sometimes; I like talking trash a lot, so it gets them mad sometimes. I enjoy it though, because at the end of the day, it’s all love, and it’s all a part of the game.”

What is your motivation?

“My motivation is my family honestly. I just want to make it to the next level so that I can repay them for all that they did for me to get to that point.”

What parts of your game are you working on right now?

“Some parts of the game that I try to work on is better route running, catching, and I try to work on my speed a lot because I know that what coaches want to see, other than your GPA.”

How did your injury affect your goals for this season and what is your goal for next season?

“I was going for a 1,000+ yard season, along with a great defensive season since I played both sides of the ball, but obviously the injury happened. If I’m being honest, the injury has helped me see a different perspective on things. It pushed me to work harder and harder every day, no matter what, and to always keep going. Next year will be fun because I will try to double, or maybe even triple, the goals that I had for this year.”

What game or moment in the game has been your favorite up to this point?

“I mean, every game has been my favorite this season. Just seeing all the work we put in day in and day out pay off for us, and this year has been special.”

What is your expectations for the rest of the season?

“The expectations for the rest of the season is to just keep going, keep putting on the work, and to just be grateful because not many teams have the chance to do what we are doing right now.”

What is one thing that you think college coaches and recruiters should know about you?

“One thing I would want college coaches to know about me is that I am a great, hard working athlete, as well as a great student in the classroom, and just a great person in general.”

What do you think your best trait is?

“The best trait about me is that i’m a funny guy to be around, on and off the field, and always trying to enjoy some of these moments I probably won’t get back.”
