Jacob Bernard is a 5’10 senior at Lakeshore High School, in Mandeville, LA. Jacob is a slot receiver and running back for the team. Jacob started playing football around the age of 8. He also played multiple other sports like baseball and soccer throughout his whole life. Jacob really enjoyed playing all three sports and has continued to play all three throughout his years in high school. During his freshman year he received All-Freshman, All-State for the soccer team, and first team All-District in baseball. During his sophomore and junior year he received All-District for all three and All-State for football his junior year. Even though he plays all three sports, Jacob grew up with football being a big part of his life, and he has his father to thank for that.  He expressed how his father is someone who inspired him to play the sport; his father played in college and Jacob wishes to follow in his footsteps. Both his parents taught him well, when he was growing up and they have worked hard to get him and his brothers and sisters what they need.

Jacob is a very humbled athlete and likes to be himself out there on the field. With a 4.45 40 time, he is a very quick and aggressive player. Jacob loves the excitement of the game and he loves to create highlights of himself. Hurdling over other players and he enjoys open field moves that show how fast he can be. Off the field Jacob describes himself as a very laid back guy. He enjoys spending time with friends and he likes to have fun.

This season Jacob has scored around 25 touchdowns, and he says that his biggest moment this year is hurdling over a player from East Jefferson and scoring on that play. Football has been a teaching experience for Jacob and he has been using those lessons throughout life. Football has taught him that nothing in life is ever going to be handed out. It had taught him how to talk to other people, and how to treat them as well. When asked about what he loves the most about football, Jacob said “I love winning, everybody loves winning!”. Jacob has a great relationship with his teammates and he enjoys uplifting them and keeping them motivated out there on the field. Jacob works hard and if something is very important to him he will put his all into whatever it is. He likes  being a physical player on the field.  Being a student-athlete is something that Jacob takes very seriously and he believes that school is very important. He has always been taught how important school is from his parents and with a 3.6 GPA, it shows how serious he is about school. When Jacob gets to college he wants to study Kinesiology and then one day become a coach.

Jacob strives to be the best he can on both the football field and in the classroom. He is a very hardworking and dedicated student athlete and likes to remind himself every day the importance of giving 100% in everything that he does.
