D.I.T.R: David Breaud Jr.

Our newest D.I.T.R. is David Breaud Jr. from Woodlawn High School down in Baton Rouge, LA. David Breaud was an attendee at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp that was held at St. Edmunds High School. Breaud plays linebacker for his school where he uses his 6 foot 200lb frame to make stuffs for his defense. At the camp, Breaud posted a 5.21 second 40 yard dash, 4.83 second 3 cone shuttle and a 7’9″ broad jump as an athlete in the class of 2026. His sizable build and mentality make him a player for coaches to keep their eyes on this season and in the future.”

I was fortunate enough to get the chance to speak with David and gain some insight into his life and athletic career.

When did you start playing football and why did you start playing?

“I started playing football when I was 4 and what really made me want to play was that my pop was really good and he wanted me to play. It helped me follow in his footsteps.”

What aspect of the game made you fall in love with the sport?

“I really like hitting, that’s what I play for. If I’m on the field and I’m not hitting anyone it doesn’t sit right with me.”

Do you play any other sports?

“I play wrestling as well as football.”

Who do you look up to as a role model?

“I look up to my Pops, I want to follow in his footsteps.”

Is there a college or professional player that you try to model your game after?

“Not really I try to bring my own playstyle. I want to be better than anyone before me.”

What have you learned about yourself from playing football?

“I learned that you have to stay on the grind. If you don’t your dreams could become crushed so I try to work hard at all time.”

What sets you apart from the other players at your position?

“I set myself apart by always putting in extra practice. I gotta practice after my practice to be satisfied.”

What school subject is the most appealing to you and why?

“Math, I enjoy working with numbers.”

What goals have you set for yourself this upcoming season?

“I want to be better than I was last year, I always want to be improving. I also want to continue to practice tinue to practice even when I don’t feel like it.”

What is something you are working on improving in practice?

“My read step is what I have been working on recently. Coach Dante has really helped me out on that, he’s doing a great job coaching us up.”

What kind of qualities do you believe a leader should have?

“Showing up everyday and working hard. Also helping others out as much as possible.”

What have you learned about teamwork from your past experiences on your teams?

“Discipline is what is necessary for good teamwork. Everyone must be patient on the field and with each other.’

What is your favorite moment from your career so far?

“My favorite moment was game against Dutchtown, I went off that game and had a bunch of tackles.”

What do you see yourself accomplishing after high school?

“I want to continue my journey with football after high school. I want to keep grinding in order to make that happen.

What are some hobbies you like to do in your free time?

“I like to play the game and chill with my friends and family. I don’t really like to do too much outside that when I’m not on the field.”
