Terrebonne High school (Houma, La.) defensive back Jalil Matthews has committed to play in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl on Dec. 30 in Baton Rouge, La.
“It means a lot to me knowing that I worked so hard to get here. It feels great to know that it all paid off.”
Throughout his career, Matthews recorded 160 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. This past season, he was a first team All-District selection.
Matthews has picked up a scholarship offer from Arkansas-Monticello and has gained interest from Nicholls, Northwestern State and Grambling.
Detroit Lions defensive back C.J Gardner-Johnson is Matthews’ favorite player to emulate because “he reminds me of myself as he is very underrated and is always delivering huge hits.”
After college, Matthews wants to be a sports therapist
