The Alexandria Trojans made a statement last Friday facing one of the best programs in Louisiana in the Destrehan Wildcats, and they did so in impressive fashion by winning with a final score of 45-27. With two LSU commits on the field football from Destrehan in Jhase Thomas and Phillip Wright, it was ASH’s LSU commit JT Lindsey that took over the game with 30 carries for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Darius Washington also played a big role as well scoring three touchdowns in the first half to help pull away from the Wildcats early. The Wildcats’ offense was without quarterback Jackson Fields and had to play freshman Aushai Smith for the second straight week. Even though Malachi Dabney, Blake Brown, Greg Wilfred, and Jhase Thomas scored, it was not enough to keep up with the Trojans as both quarterbacks Karsen Sellers and Max Gassiott threw scoring touchdowns.
Alexandria improves to 3-0 and will travel to take on defending state champion Opelousas on Friday while Destrehan falls to 1-2 and will look to even their record at 2-2 on Friday against East St. John.
