U-High Rolls Past Country Day 43-0 Setting Up Division III (Select) Quarterfinal Matchup Against Newman

The defending state champion U-High Cubs were focused on the task at hand against the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns and did not look ahead to a potential matchup with the Newman Greenies in the Quarterfinals.

From the very start, the Cubs were on the pounce as quarterback Blake Abney started with two touchdown passes to Granville Anderson and Michael Guruli putting the Cubs up by two scores early.

Defensively, the Cubs would add to the scoring as Holden Fox was at the right place at the right time catching the deflected pass from his teammate Marcus Dawson Jr. and taking it all the way for a pick six in order to give his team a 19-0 lead.

The next score would occur by one of the best young football prospects in the state of Louisiana in sophomore Keylan Moses. The younger brother of former U-High standout and Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses shows why he will be a big-time recruit as well with a 20-yard touchdown run to extend the Cubs lead at 26-0. Riley Small would end the scoring with two more touchdown runs to put an exclamation point on a dominating 43-0 shutout win over the Cajuns.

It has been a good season for the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns as they finish the season with a 6-6 overall record. Meanwhile, the U-High Cubs will continue their march to the Superdome while improving their overall record to 8-3 and will indeed make the travel to play the Newman Greenies in what will be one of the most anticipated matchups on Thanksgiving week.
