Athens, Oh- The Southeastern Lions traveled to Athens, Ohio this weekend play in Penden Stadium against their host, the Ohio Bobcats. Each team was undefeated; however Southeastern struggled into the second half without any scores while Ohio managed to score a 21 point lead in the first half.
This lead proved itself too difficult to come back from for the Lions. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that Southeastern was able to score two touchdowns, their only two scores of the game. That being said, the Lions’ defense made a total of 3 sacks and defensive back, Jordan Batiste, made his first interception of the season.
Southeastern’s offense had been shaky in previous games, but three key absences this Saturday proved to be detrimental. The Lions were missing starting quarterback, D’Shaie Landor due to injury as a result of last week’s game. Also, Xavier Roberson and Julius Maracalin, the team’s two best rushers, were also missing.
Next week, Southeastern’s Lions will take a break, but are set to return to Strawberry Stadium to play Lamar at 6p.m. on October 1st.
