School Spotlight: Moss Point High School (Moss Point, MS)

The Moss Point Tigers are a 4A Region 8 high school football team located in Moss Point, Mississippi along the Gulf Coast. They first fielded a team in 1925. The Tigers have made the 4A playoffs for the past 11 seasons. They have won 5 state titles, their last title being in 2000. Moss Point has just recently made a new coaching change hiring John Feaster, former Stone High School head coach.

Recent hire Head Coach John Feaster had previously been at the helm of the Stone High School program for 7 seasons. Taking his team all the way to the 4A South State Championship. Feaster never intended to become a high school football coach. It started out when he came back from college he wanted to help the kids in the neighborhood, so he would give them jobs to do. He created a great relationship with the kids and they convinced him to try out being a coach. He started as a school resource officer, and assistant coach. He went on as an assistant for a few years before gaining the Stone job.

What is your philosophy that you try to bestow to your team?

“I want my players to win at life above all else. Winning lives is much harder than winning a football game and when you can understand that and conquer those challenges the game of football becomes much easier.”

Feaster likes to run his base defense as a 4-2-5, but the defense has the ability to change looks if necessary based off of what the offense is offering. On offense he runs an 11 personnel and wants to sling it if possible. Last year his offense had 2600+ passing yards and 20+ touchdowns through the air, but remained balanced with 1300 rushing yards.

Taboris on the field

A bright spot on the Tigers offense is running back Taboris Charles. He is an extremely hard worker who had 1200+ rushing yards in his junior season and accounted for 12 TDs. He is 5’10 175 lbs and works extremely hard to perfect his craft. His successes next season will help the offense immensely.

Another big leader on the gridiron is Class of 2025 OL/DL Deshawn Feazell. Deshawn is 6’2 345 lbs and is one of the hardest workers on the field. He is a humble kid who is a big leader for the team on and off the field.
