School Spotlight: Keller High School (Keller, TX)

Keller High School is a 6A classification by the University Interscholastic League. The school is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in a suburb called Keller, Texas. It is the original High School to open in the town of Keller. They are coming off a successful football season going 10-3, losing in the third round of the playoffs to Lewisville High School. This marked back-to-back seasons with playoff appearances in a tough district that contains teams like Southlake Carroll and Byron Nelson. The Indians are looking to “maintain the standard” this upcoming season, according to Coach Stralow. With tons of coaching and talent coming back, the Indians are looking to compete for the district title this upcoming fall.

Coach Carl Stralow is entering his twelfth season as the Head Coach for Keller High School. He made stops around the Metroplex including Coppell and Colleyville Heritage before moving over to Keller in 2012. He is very high on his returning coaching staff for this upcoming fall. A fun group with tons of experience that is ready to work every day to improve each one of their football players.

Here are some of the returners for the Indians this upcoming season.

Tre’ Griffiths is a 6’3 205 pound Senior wide receiver for the Indians this upcoming fall. The multi-sport athlete is a very fast kid that has the ability to go up and catch the football at any given moment. He is your do it all guy on the football field that has great size for the next level. He currently holds offers from Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas, and others.

Ryan Ventura is a 5’9 185 pound athlete entering his Senior season for the Indians. Another multi-sport athlete that plays on both sides of the football for the team. You better know where #7 is on the football field every play or he will make you regret it. A ball hawking safety that flies all over the football field making plays for the defense. Oh, and he plays running back and has the role in the return game as well.

Tex Mahon is a 6’2 260 pound player that is apart of a loaded group on the offensive front for the Indians. He plays both sides of the line for the team. On the offensive side, he is a very impactful blocker in the run game. He helped two running backs reach the 800 yard mark, one of them reaching over 1,400 yards this past season. He was awarded Offensive Newcomer of the Year for the 4-6A district. The Class of 2025 prospect is looking for a break out season to help lead the Indians to another playoff appearance.

Cameron Rayford is a 5’10 190 pound running back that is entering his Senior year for Indians. In a split backfield this past season, he ran for over 800 yards and 10 touchdowns. In a game against Southlake Carroll, he ran for 100 yards and got into the endzone twice as well. A very physical runner that is hard to bring down during any play.

Parker Ireson is a 6’4 210 pound athlete that is a valuable piece for the offense. The Class of 2024 prospect has the flexibility to play both tight end and receiver for the Indians. He is great sized player that does everything you want out of a tight end at the next level. A great run blocker that also has great hands in the passing game. Another go up and catch the football target on this loaded offense for the Indians.
