Javon Northern, a rising star at Ferriday Junior High, is well-known for his amazing football talents. Standing at 5’5″ and weighing 155 lbs, Javon might not be the biggest player, but he makes up for it with his determination and experience. His eight years of football experience definitely reflect in his play. He demonstrated his ability to stop opponents last season by recording over 20 tackles. Even more astounding is the fact that Javon maintains a strong 2.8 GPA while juggling his athletic obligations and academics.
How did you get started in football, and what inspired you to play the sport?
My cousin was playing football and that made me want to play.
Can you share a memorable moment or game that stands out in your junior high football career so far?
A memorable moment is when I got my starting position.
What positions do you enjoy playing the most, and why?
I enjoy playing linebacker because I like it.
How do you balance schoolwork and football during the season?
I go to school and focus on my work, and then after I focus on playing football.
What aspects of your game do you feel you have improved upon the most since you started playing?
I improved on trying to get in on a tackle every play.
What are your individual goals for the upcoming football season?
This upcoming season I want to work hard and get a starting position.
How do you stay motivated during practices and training sessions, especially when facing tough drills or exercises?
I stay motivated by just staying strong and going to practice everyday.
What advice would you give to other young players?
I would tell them to never give up and keep going.
Aside from football, what is an interesting fact about you?
I also like to play basketball.

What did it mean to be a part of the Gridiron Bowl football game?
It was a big deal to me to be able to play and meet with other players.
What are your biggest strengths on the field?
My biggest strength is my speed.
What is the biggest challenge you face on the field?
My biggest challenge is blocking somebody bigger than me.
