Corde Fields is a 5’8 170-pound RB/ATH for the SOC Bears, currently in his junior year. While he is only a junior, he has some of the most insane highlights you will find shaking off countless tacklers to get as many yards as possible every time he touches the ball. He has an innate ability to make defenders miss, which leaves anyone watching mesmerized as to how he makes it happen. While “undersized” he is a very tough runner and refuses to go down on the first tackle.

South Oak Cliff has started the season off 6-2 and 5-0 in the district. They are considered one of the best teams in the state and made a run to the state championship last year where they would come up just short in a heartbreaking 20-17 loss. They have a loaded roster full of talent from top to bottom setting them up for years to come and hopefully allowing Fields to get some shine next season as they graduate some of their best talent this year.

Okay first question: Who is your favorite NFL/College player that you try to model your game after?
As a RB, I like to be physical, becaue it’s a lot of positions where you can be physical but I like to be in the trenches. I know I’m not as big as the defensive lineman but I know how to make them miss and break tackles.
What’s your favorite thing about playing RB?
For the recruiting process, I have just been getting follows on Twitter and Instagram from coaches. But no one has texted, called, or reached out but I am cool with that for now. I guess what I have done so far isn’t enough but it just motivates me to keep going and doing what I have to do. A dream school would be Kentucky. Keeping the running back legacy going at Boise State. I also like OSU and what they have been doing with TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins.
How has your recruiting process been so far? What would be your dream school to play for?
So my first year, the coaches had players that had already been there and been doing great things for the program, so of course those guys are going to get most of the focus from the coaches and rightfully so. But that summer, they saw how hard I was working and how dedicated I was to getting better and they told me “we’ve seen your progress and how much you have improved so we are going to give you some shine this year.” So from that point on, I’ve told myself I have to take it. My position coach, Coach Davis, and my offensive coordinator, Coach J-Walker, they put me in posiiton for any opportunity I have gotten and that’s what I am thankful for.
How have the coaches and players around you at South Oak Cliff helped you improve to be the best that you can be?
This year we are looking to accomplsih getting the ball off faster and making everything more accurate because last year we were kind of unorganized. Everyone was doing their part, but we weren’t exceuting how we needed to. The RB from last year, he is now at TSU putting up numbers. The receivers we had were really talented as well, but PNG just had the mindset that “we lost to them last year, we aren’t losing to them again.”
Entering your junior year, coming off of a trip to the state championship last season where you guys unfortunately came up just short, what are some personal/team goals that you look to accomplish this year?
Our run game has been working pretty well but we have been working on our passing trying to get the ball to the receivers more. We are staying in shape because we are moving the ball every play. The things we need to work on are just moving faster and keeping the opposing defense constantly on their heels.
You guys have started the season off 4-2, what is something that has been working well this season and what’s something the team can improve on?
The rest of the games are all games that we believe we should win with no doubt but every game gives us an opportunity to iron out some wrinkles and get everything ready to go for the playoffs. Because once we get there, it is going to be a huge matchup every week, and we have to be fully prepared when that time comes.
What’s a game you are looking forward to this season?
