Louisiana College won their second game of the season today in an exciting game on the road at Bacone College in Muskogee, OK. I was impressed by the Wildcats ability to take last week’s loss in stride and attack their conference game this week with Bacone College.  Sophomore Quarterback Easton Meloncon from Ama, Louisiana showed excellent maturity in the way he led the Wildcats today.

Louisiana College’s defense really came to play today and only gave up 282 yards of total offence. Louisiana College’s secondary caused 4 interceptions. Ira Jewitt intercepted one pass and scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away at 37 to 13. Shaq Lewis and Ira Jewitt both caused two interceptions each. Along with the secondary, the defensive line had their own victories today. Darin Clark led the team with 2 sacks. The defensive line also limited Bacone College -8 yards of rushing until the last five minutes of the game when Bacone College was able to get the ground game going and was finally able to get 48 yards after 41 attempts. If Louisiana College’s defense continues to play like today, I predict they will win a lot of games this season.

Along with the Defense playing well today, the Offense played impressively today.  Easton Meloncon, completed a career high 96 yard touchdown pass to Kyle Galyon. Easton was able to get 190 yards though the air and complete two touchdowns. Kyle Galyon had a great day as well with his five receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. The ground game was led by Aurren Cooksey with 18 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown. I was impressed with how the Wildcat Offense managed to improve their turnover margin in just one week.  This responsiveness to feedback will make them a team to watch for the rest of the season.

Next week Louisiana College travels to Dover, Delaware to play Wesley College. Wildcats, enjoy your victory tonight because tomorrow you go back to work to prepare for Wesley College.
