LCA Defeats Woodlawn 49-14 to Start the Season at 2-0

A week after LCA QB and LSU commit Ju’Juan Johnson was our Gridiron Football Player of the Week with his video game type performance in Week 1 against Acadiana. The Knights followed up last week’s performance with another efficient offensive performance from their signal caller as Johnson accounted for five total touchdowns in the Knights’ 49-14 victory over the Woodlawn Panthers.

Running back Jalen Noel added 135 yards and a touchdown for Lafayette Christian while receivers Treanders Marzell, Trae Grogan, and Braylon Walker all had touchdown receptions during the game.

The LCA defense also did their part by making it tough on the Panthers’ offense the entire night and also added a pick six early from Chris Helaire in the game as well.

Check out some of the highlights from the game.

The Panthers did pull within a touchdown at 14-7 with a Myron Nelson 35-yard touchdown pass to Jaycob Jolla, but the Knights turned it up by scoring 35 unanswered points after that.

The Knights improve to 2-0 to start the season and will host Jesuit on Friday. Meanwhile, the Panthers start the season at 0-2 after playing two state championship caliber programs the first two weeks of the season. Woodlawn will look to try and get in the win column next week against Carver.
