DITR: WR Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman

Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman is a 6’0 185 lbs WR. According to 247sports.com, Khijohnn is one of the top 10 ranked high school football players in the state of Minnesota. He attends Coon Rapids High School in Coon Rapids, MN. Last season Khijohnn displayed crazy amount of speed and his ability to make defenders miss whenever he has the ball in his hands. Last season with his regular and postseason stats combine he had 57 receptions, 962 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns. He averaged 16.9 yards per catch and 106 yards per game last season. Last season he accounted for 14 total touchdowns with some of those coming from rushing and kick return. We were able to talk to and interview Khijohnn.

“I would say me as a person I’m chill and I am just a go with the flow type of guy, on the field i would describe myself as an explosive athlete that can play all around the field.”

Every athlete has a moment where they fall in love with their sport. Each athlete has a starting point in their career.

“I’ve been playing football since i could walk and run it was always a thing i was into and wanted to do.”

WR Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman – When ask about what age he started playing football.

Having a strong support system is important. Having people that you can turn to whenever things get tough or even for motivation is important for young athletes.

“During my journey I’ve been supported heavily by my mom, aunt and grandma the most but there’s also been friends and family who had been here for years too.”

WR Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman – When asked about who has supported him along his journey.

Each season players look forward to something, rather it is playing a specific team or seeing how the team improved from last season. Last season Khijohnn accounted for 14 total touchdowns.

“I’m looking forward to a good senior season all around and riding out this last year with my boys and coaches one last time.”

A lot of professional athletes played multiple sports growing up. Some athletes are good enough to even be recruited in multiple sports.

“I also play basketball and run track.”

Teams cannot win if they do not play as one unit or together. Playing football requires you to play as a team, not one individual can carry a team to victory. Being a good teammate is important to a team’s success.

“Somethings that make a good teammate is someone who cares more about the team over their personal agenda and someone who has everyone else’s best interests over their own also.”

Last season with his regular and postseason stats combine he had 57 receptions, 962 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns. Even with the tremendous effort by Khijohnn all season long, the Coon Rapids Cardinals had suffered a first-round playoff exit last season.

“I learned that our team is very passionate about the game and our team and that we have a lot of faith in ourselves and what we can do.”

Each player has different motivations for playing football. Having something or someone that motivates you as player, allows you to work harder to strengthen your craft.

“My mom is a big motivator for me because i know if I’m successful in life i can give her the life she wants and deserves.”

WR Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman – When asked about what motivates him to play or get better.

Khijohnn is entering his senior year. He currently has six different colleges offering him a football scholarship.

“My plans after high school is to go to college and play at the next level and also prepare for life and also hopefully go to the league.”

In order to get better as a football player, you have to study and watch some best players that play the game. To become a great football player, you have to learn and see what it takes to become great.

“I like to compare myself to a young Dorion singer and i also like to model my game after Odell and Justin Jefferson of course.”
