DITR: WR Darnell Jackson Jr., Grand Oaks High School (Spring, TX)

Darnell Jackson Jr. is a 5’10, 155lb. athlete who plays Wide Receiver at Grand Oaks High School in Spring, Texas and is in the Class of 2027. Darnell is an amazing dual sport athlete who not only plays football but also runs track for his school as well and has put up tremendous stats in both sports, especially football. Throughout his Freshman season, Darnell has recorded 29 receptions, 668 receiving yards, 338 yards for return, scored 13 touchdowns, and totaled in 1,056 yards. Overall, I believe that he is a amazing student-athlete that has a potential future in sports!

What are some things you have overcome in life?

 Somethings I have overcame was learning how to lose. The ability to face my feelings and emotions it comes with and coming back harder. Learning how to channel your emotions and use it as ammunition to work harder is not always easy. 

What are your biggest accomplishments?

Some of my biggest accomplishments was getting on the varsity track team as a freshman, receiving Offensive Player of the Year, and currently being the Texas High School Boys leader in the 200m dash. 

What player do you compare yourself to and why?

I feel like I compared myself to Devonta Smith because he of the way he runs his routes as well as his catching ability. He also motivates me by the career awards he has won like the Heisman and Maxwell Award

What are your plans once you’re done with football and why?

After football I hoped to finish with my college degree in Business/ Sport Management to either become a sports scout or holding a position within player personnel. I also have the desire to become a business owner having my own sports complex offering multiple sports and rental opportunities.

What are your goals/new things you want to accomplish for this upcoming season?

My goals for the upcoming season would be to secure my spot on varsity and to land an offer by the end of my sophomore season.

What do you like about the sport of football and how is it significant to you?

I like football because of the speed, the strategy and competitiveness. It also feels like a brotherhood. This is significant to me because gives me the drive to push myself to the max and my highest ability because no one game is the same.

What is an interesting fact about you outside of football? 

An interesting fact about me is that when I do get free time I am a big gamer and I love all types of music!

What colleges have you received any interest from if any and what is your dream college to play for?

I have been on a few visits Baylor, A&M, U of H, some interests from OU and Ol Miss. But my dream college to play for is University of Michigan. This has been my dream since I started playing football!
