DITR : QB Jayden Ellington Althoff Catholic High School (Belleville, Illinois)

Jayden Ellington is a freshman at Althoff Catholic, belonging to the class of 2027. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 167 pounds, Jayden is a dual-threat quarterback known for his ability to make plays both with his arm and his feet. In his debut season, Jayden showcased remarkable skill, throwing for 1,584 yards and 17 touchdowns. Additionally, he demonstrated his prowess on the ground, rushing for 582 yards and scoring 7 touchdowns. Jayden Ellington displays a remarkable level of talent and maturity that surpasses his age, particularly notable for a freshman. Jayden Ellington is definitely a young man worth keeping an eye on, as he still has three more years ahead of him to continue developing and refining his skills. With his current level of talent and dedication to improvement, the potential for his growth and impact on the football field is phenomenal.

What are some things you have overcome in life?

“Some things I had to overcome in life is continuing to navigate the pressure of a being a top athlete and still trying to have fun as a kid. Also continuing to elevate my game by training, working out and studying different quarterbacks.”

What are your biggest accomplishments?

” My biggest accomplishment is earning the starting Varsity QB job and leading the team to a 10-2 record and to the quarterfinals.”

What player do you compare yourself to and why?

“I compare myself to Lamar Jackson. People told him he wasn’t a QB and he’s been proving them wrong.”

What are your plans once you’re done with football and why?

“When I’m done with football, my plans is to coach and go into real estate. I want to give back to my community and help younger kids.”

What are some goals you have for yourself, and your team next season?

” My goals for next season is to go undefeated and win a State Championship for my teammates. I want to see the seniors go out on top. My goals for myself is to pass for 2,000+ yards, throw for 30 touchdowns, run for 7+ touchdowns and make the
All-State team.”

What is an interesting fact about you outside of football?

“An interesting fact about me outside of football is that I love shoes.”

What is your dream school?

“My dream school is a school that will give me an opportunity to compete and utilize my abilities.”

What position do you enjoy playing the most and why?

“The position I enjoy playing the most is quarterback. The quarterback is the field general. Everyone looks up to the QB. Being a QB comes with a lot of pressure, you have to be able to accept the good & bad criticism that comes along with it.”

What are some ways your coaches have helped you?

“I have some of the best coaches around. My QB coach Austin Rivers believed in me since I started training with him. My head coach also believed that me, a freshman, could lead his program. For that I am grateful for them both.”

What colleges have you received any offers or interest from if any and what is your dream college to play for?

“I have not received any offers yet, however, I have talked to a number prospective coaches that have come to my High School.”
