Lloyd Benson III, Class of 2023 Wide Receiver from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Lloyd Benson is a 5’10 185 Lbs. class of 2022 wide receiver at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lloyd is not only a great athlete but he is also a great student as he maintains a 3.8 GPA and a 25 on the ACT. Benson displays great run after catch and is very willing to catch the ball over the middle. He also doubles as Catholic’s return specialist and is electric in the return game. He boasts a 4.5 40-yard dash and is very physical after the catch.

How long have you been playing football and What do you love about football?

L: I’ve been playing football since I was 6 years old at the YMCA. I love to compete and win with my teammates. 

What has football taught you about yourself?

L: Football has taught me that I am a perfectionist and I am always striving to be my best self even when nobody is watching. 

Who are your biggest motivators?

L: Definitively my parents. 

Do you play any other sports? 

L: I play basketball and run track, I ran the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays.

What would your coaches say about you as a player? 

L: My coaches would say that I am a leader but more of a lead by example guy who is going to put his head down and work harder than everybody else.

What is your biggest strength on the football field?

L: My run after catch, when I get the ball I turn into a running back. 

What part of your game do you want to improve on in your junior year?

L: I would like to improve on getting in and out of my breaks better and winning my jump ball situations. 

What should college coaches know about you?

L: I have great hands, I’m a physical receiver and very dangerous with the ball in my hands in open space.

What are some of your goals, when it comes to your overall football career? 

L: I really want an opportunity at a free education and hopefully with that opportunity I can make it to the NFL.

Is there any player college or professional that you model your game after?

L: Ja’Marr Chase, his run after the catch and big play ability is something I see myself as a receiver. 

What are some of your goals this season team wise and personally? 

L: Personally I want to be All-State and All-District and as a team I want to go undefeated, win state and be remembered as the best team in Catholic High history.
