Greyson Dupre, out of Archbishop Hannan High School, does everything with 100% effort and at full speed. Whether it is stopping ball carriers in their tracks or booting a football 40 yards, he does a little bit of everything.
This past season, the Hawks won only two games, but one of the bright spots was the play of Dupre. As a linebacker, Dupre was a tackling machine as a 2nd Team All-District selection with 112 total tackles (58 solo), 6 TFLs, and 3 forced fumbles. Watching the film, this Hawk was in on almost every tackle. His ability to read and diagnose plays at an extremely high level makes him a tough defender to fool or go against. Not to mention, his physicality and high motor.
“My biggest strengths as a player are definitely my determination, physicality, and leadership. I think that all these things are important for a successful linebacker.”

Because of all those qualities, former Carolina Panthers NFL great Luke Kuechly is a player that he looks up to.
“I’m going to go with Luke Kuechly because of his leadership and physicality on and off the ball. He’s definitely someone who I study and take tips for my personal game.”

Dupre is a standout defender not only for his ability to tackle, but it is also his ability to punt that makes him standout even more. Often times, he would pin opposing offenses deep by averaging 37.5 yards per punt with a long of 55 yards.
“I feel like my strengths as a punter are feeling the pressure around me and getting the ball off quick. I feel like it definitely helped me trust my teammates and hold them accountable for their jobs because without them, I’m going to have a long night.”

Being around the game of football since he was 8 years old, Dupre has always loved the physical contact and the camaraderie of the game.
“My favorite part of the game is the violence and teamwork to play as a unit and not just one person.”

Being a leader and a good teammates is something that Dupre takes extra pride in. In fact, doing everything for the betterment of the team is an important goal of his plus getting in striking range of a school record.
“A big team goal is to just import in all three phases. Everything we are doing and the extra stuff is to improve on the year prior. A personal goal is to break the school record for tackles, which is 125.”

After having 112 tackles last season, Dupre is well within range of that goal and in order to achieve that goal, he is working on being a more complete linebacker this upcoming season.
“I would like to work on my speed laterally and downhill and also work on being a sideline to sideline linebacker.”

The versatile Hawks player showed off what he has been working on at the first Gridiron Football Elite Camp of the season. At the camp, Dupre was recognized as one of its top camp performers. Having a great first showing at the camp was a nice springboard into the offseason.
“I personally loved the camp I really liked the new competition that prepares me for the skill sets people have on Fridays. I think I performed well during the 1v1s and 7v7s. It’s just time to improve the testing numbers.”

Even though the recruiting process has been slow so far for him, he also realizes that it is a long journey to get where he wants to go.
“I have some looks and interest, but I’m definitely ramping things up in recruiting. I know the process isn’t easy so I’m not discouraged. I know good things come with time.”

With a 3.8 GPA and a 21 on his ACT, Greyson Dupre is the definition of a Renaissance man as he is a student ambassador for the school, on the school’s student council, is a standout goal keeper on the Hawks’ soccer team, and is even a pretty good pickleball player as well.

His eventual dream is to go into environmental sciences and work in wildlife and fisheries, but for now, he is working on his current goal, which is to be playing college football.
“I would be an asset to these programs because I am determined on and off the field, and you can know that I’m giving 100% in everything I do. These programs are also getting a really good linebacker and punter in my opinion at least.”
