DITR: LB Javar Thomas

Javar Thomas is a 6’3 200 lbs linebacker. He attends Chester W Nimitz High School in Houston, TX. This season Javar has been a defensive menace for the Nimitz Cougars football team. According to on3.com Javar currently has a three-star ranking. Being 8 games into the season with a Javar-led defense the Nimitz Cougars have allowed a total of 94 points and have led to a 6-1 record. At the moment he is ranked 5^th in the 6A Region II District 14 in total tackles with 38. Even though Javar is a junior, he has become one of the top defensive players on the Nimitz football team. According to on3.com, Ben Wells, a former Texas Longhorns defensive back said Javar “reminded him of former Longhorns linebacker Keennan Robinson, a 4th round NFL draft pick.” We were able to talk and interview with Javar.

Each player has different motivations for playing football. Having something or someone that motivates you as player, allows you to work harder to strengthen your craft.

Each season players look forward to something, rather it is playing a specific team or seeing how the team improved from last season. Being a transfer student Javar is going into this season with a new team and a new mindset. Coming into this season he looks to help better the Nimitz Cougar defense.

Having a strong support system is important. Being able to have people that you can turn to whenever things get tough or even for motivation is important for young athletes. Most times when an athlete has people that always support them, it makes them play better as a player.

Teams cannot win if they do not play as one unit or together. Playing football requires you to play as a team, not one individual can carry a team to victory. Being a good teammate is important to a team’s success.

Javar is entering his junior year of high school, so he still has time to improve his game. He currently just received his first D1 football offer from Texas Christain University (TCU).

In order to get better as a football player, you have to study and watch some best players that play the game. To become a great football player, you have to learn and see what it takes to become great.

Transferring to Nimitz, Javar looks to help his team win. He has done exactly that by leading his team in the tackling category with 9.5 tackles per game. The Nimitz Cougar defense have allowed less than 100 combined points in their last 7 games.
