De’Vante Champ is a 6’4, 170lbs WR out of Homer High school in Homer, LA. This class of 2022 prospects is dominant when it comes to route running. His height helps him receive hard plays. Even when he is covered he still finds a way to become open to making the plays for his team to succeed. He was invited to play on the Gridiron bowl game and is excited to see where the future leads him within the game of football.

When did you start playing football?

I started playing in junior high. At first, I didn’t really know much about the sport but as I learned more about the game of football I fell in love with it.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I actually played basketball growing up. The physicality of the sport is what drew me to the game of football.

Have you always played your position or did you play any other positions?

Growing up I have played safety and defensive back. After the thrill of scoring touchdowns is what made me want to stick to wide receiver.

Who would you say some of your biggest influences are?

My mom. She pushes me to work harder and she is always there for me when I need her.

Who would you say your favorite NFL player is or who do you model your game after?

The wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The way he plays, the physicality of his game are what motivate me to play harder.

What has been the highlight/biggest accomplishment of your football career so far?

Winning state for the first time in a long time during my senior year

What motivates you to get out and practice every day?

I love the game of football. The feeling I get when playing is indescribable. Even when times are hard I just love playing.

What do you feel are your biggest strengths on the football field?

My height. Since I am tall I can make more plays as well as I would consider myself a good route runner.

What has football taught you about life and yourself in general?

One lesson that football has taught me is discipline and responsibility. Showing up every day to practice on time and making sure I am doing my job. That translates into life when I have a real job and when people are depending on me to do my part

What would be your my cleats my cause?

I would say diabetes. I have family members that are affected by it and I would just want to show my support and help raise money for it.
