Diamond in the Rough: Lincoln Kienholz

Lincoln Kienholz is a 3⭐ Quarterback and the top-ranked recruit from the State of South Dakota in the class of 2023. He committed to continue his academic and football careers at the University of Washington. The 6”3’ 185-Pound Qauterback chose to play there over schools such as Wisconsin and North Dakota State. He also plays basketball and baseball at T.F. Riggs High School (SD). 

So far this season he has gone 5-0 in his first 5 games throwing for 91 completions,1589-Yards, and 23-Touchdowns. He also ran for 462-Yards and 4 more touchdowns on 47 carries, averaging almost 10 yards a run!

Do you have any goals for the rest of 2022? 

“My goal is to lead my team to another state championship.”

What is your biggest strength as a football player?

“Being able to make plays both with my arm and my legs.”

What makes you different than every other recruit in the country? 

“I think I am different from every other recruit because of my ability to run the ball as well.”

What is your proudest achievement in football?

“Winning state every year I have been in high school.”

What is an example of you overcoming adversity as an athlete?

“We were down 27-7 at one point in the state championship last year and came all the way back and kicked a 40-yard field goal to win 30-27.”

If you had to compare yourself to a college of a professional player, Who would it be? Why? 

“I like to watch Bryce young a lot because of his arm and shiftiness and also Trey Lance because of his ability to make plays by running and throwing.”

What is something you are looking for in a college program during your recruitment? 

“I want a college that fits me for schooling and also football.”

What’s your favorite football memory? 

“Right now, winning state last year was a movie!!”

Who is someone you look up to off the football field? 

“I look up to my mom a lot because she is my role model.”

What role do you play as a leader on the team?

“I play a vocal leader and lead by example for my teammates.”
