Diamond in the Rough: Jaquez Jones

Jaquez Jones is a 6’2 170lbs senior wider receiver from Captain Shreve in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jaquez runs a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, can bench 225, and can squat 315. Jaquez caught a 23-yard touchdown pass in the LGF bowl game.

When did you become introduced to the game of football?

I was four years old and I started playing when I five. I first got introduced to it at the park playing with my cousin.

What style of player are you?

I would say that I am more of an aggressive wide receiver I do not shy away from contact; I do not mind blocking I actual like blocking. I always try to find ways to get into the play.

Do you have any football players that inspire you or you can compare your style of play to?

I would compare my style of play to probably JuJu Smith-Schuster, because he blocks downfield and he is kind of like a bigger and longer receiver, he also doesn’t shy away from contact. A player that I look up to is Julio Jones because he is a very aggressive receiver like if its you and the defensive back then he is gonna want the ball.

What is your most memorable game?

I was in a game where we were down 35-7 at halftime and we came back but lose 42-35. That game even though we lost showed us what type of football team we have.

What is the one area that you think you exceled at this year?

My physicality is an area that I exceled at this year.

What did you think about the Louisiana Gridiron Football bowl game you played in recently?

The bowl game was a lot of fun it was something new and I was really looking forward to it.
